LUXOR, Egypt (AFP) – The ornate pharaonic tombs in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings are doomed to disappear within 150 to 500 years if they remain open to tourists, the head of antiquities has warned.

Zahi Hawass said humidity and fungus are eating into the walls of the royal tombs in the huge necropolis on the west bank of the Nile across from Luxor, which is swamped daily by several thousand tourists.

Poor ventilation and the breath of the hordes of visitors are causing damage to the carvings and painted decorations inside the tombs, he told journalists on a tour of the royal necropolis on Monday.

“The tombs (in the Valley of the Kings and nearby Valley of the Queens) which are open to visitors are facing severe damage to both colours and the engravings,” Hawass said.

“The levels of humidity and fungus are increasing because of the breath of visitors and this means that the tombs could disappear between 150 and 500 years.”

The Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens, where pharaonic royalty was mummified, is home to the tombs of legendary pharaohs such as the boy king Tutenkhamun and Queen Nefertiti.

Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities have taken a series of measures to protect the tombs, including setting up new ventilation systems, restricting the number of visitors and closing some tombs.

Hawass said the authorities have also decided “to close some tombs definitively to tourists and replace them by identical replicas,” including those of Tutenkhamun, Nefertiti and Seti I.

“A team of experts is currently using laser technology to examine these tombs in order to build the replicas… which would then open to visitors in a place near the Valley of the Kings,” Hawass said.

King Tut’s tomb caused an international sensation when it was first discovered in 1922 by Briton Howard Carter and has not ceased to fuel the imagination because of the fabulous treasures that emerged from it.

The mummy of the “boy king”, who was made pharaoh at the age of nine, was found in an ornate sarcophagus his face covered by a solid gold burial mask encrusted with semi-precious stones.

The 18th dynasty pharaoh reigned reigned 1333 and 1324 BC and died mysteriously at the age of 19. Some experts say he was assassinated, other blame the death on a gangrened leg.

His ancestry is also a mystery and Hawass said in June that DNA testing would be conducted to determine his parentage.

The pharaoh Akhenaten was thought to have fathered King Tut and his mother could have been Nefertiti, a foreign princess, or his wet nurse Maya.

Nefertiti, renowned as one of history’s great beauties, was the wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten, remembered for having converted his kingdom to monotheism with the worship of one sun god, Aton.

But in March German researchers in Berlin said they have uncovered a second, hidden face within an iconic bust of Nefertiti, which indicates she may not have been the flawless beauty depicted on the bust’s exterior.

The bust is on display in Berlin’s Altes Museum and has been at the centre of a row with Egypt which has repeatedly demanded its restitution.

Seti I was one of ancient Egypt’s greatest rulers and a formidable military commander from the 19th dynasty, whose tomb in the Valley of the Kings is the largest ever discovered but archeologists have yet to tap all its mysteries.

Your tongues should be like doubled edged swords by now, and masters at using the offenders language against him go claim.

    That’s their job.

Tombs are shaped like an upside down vagina, so the womans womb is facing up and out giving the impression that everything came out of it.
This is out the box thinkin cause giving me leeway with yall to open up for this

if the tombs disappear that would be an indication that um err uhhhh all the information “needed” is out.

And you Know, when they go in talkin bout “to close some tombs definitively “replace them by identical replicas,”setting up new ventilation systems, laser technology
    Come on yall ?
Yall seen these instances where they have tried to “help”. Disastrous.Just the thought “indicates more paving over”

Weaint^onr-game so Orhemah say “they can have’em” the pyramids have been proven ever’d already.

By the way how many”Real” moment in times are there anyway does anybody know?

We know Cosmic, Ancient, and Modern are there any in between names people need to focus on outside the known facts you know like just say no to Dis-coverings=ies to the brothas and to the sistas just say yes to what “empresses u”

    empress
    –noun
    1. a female ruler of an empire.
    2. the consort of an emperor.

    consort
    1. a husband or wife; spouse, esp. of a reigning monarch.

    empire
    5. supreme control; absolute sway

    emperor
    em·per·or (ěm’pər-ər)
    n.
    1. The male ruler of an empire.
    2.
    1. The emperor butterfly.
    2. The emperor moth………………And check out #2 on that baby
Anyway what I’m tryna say here in this particular point is empress is nothing more than an achieved power to control, control what though ? Anything lil or big! and not necessarily Evrything!.

    Back to
    The tombs
    brothas are charged…as a today.
It’s a perfect task for them to focus on besides endeavors of ancient “stuff” this would actually be progress, to combat those who’ll say people are on it or job too large I’m smiling and saying that’s not true.

Blame my willingness on refusing to draw attention away from the carvings.
I’m too far away from Alkebulan to take alot of notice away from the walls, carving and photos of Sistatimes. I’m not in the position do that in some instances.

Don’t forget to think of it as them saying “they’re gonna disappear” and not of other planes/realms or life/your lives. It’s just their word and we still responsible, question whatchu’ll you do, if sent a letter saying “lets go save the pyramids ?”

hmmm, what do we have here plenty of invisabltors.

“Humidity, fungus, poor ventilation, breath of the hordes of vistors causing the damage”. Hmm and it’s not from them comin in and taking pieces for their musems and landscapes and trying to hide stuff. No matta what they do our work can neva be replicated by them.

  8. Carolyn said,

    on August 24th, 2009 at 7:06 pm

Nope, and I was just thinkin bout their so called art work, Look how primitive ancient replications/forgeries looked.
    Yall know that cartooney factor.

Creepy since they didn’t have cartoons back then.

    How bout those gstrings?
Seems like it’s staple in black art, a man ask an artist to paint a religious sign on his guitar, he also told the artist that he wants to wanna carry the guitar evrywhere he goes, the artist put the lion of judah on the front and a sis with a turquoise gstring rear view/w the always irregular perfectly circlish bubble exaggerated butt ,
what make it so bad it was, its typa gstring painting where the gstring looks like it hurt but then again they always look like they hurt when artist paint’em on.

Seems to me black art has created a staple that if they paint even a nude picture of sistas they always gotta exaggerate the butt and and always put on the damned gstring.

  9. Carolyn said,

    on August 24th, 2009 at 7:27 pm

And anther thing about the gstring err chick outdere know that them thangs are uncomfortable for bout a year and we condition our asses to except them, since we know that this repetitive action can alter molecular structure is this effective on the dna scales?

Causing molecular change would indicate that the but crack is visually and internally not the same after years of the flossing action,
question whats the (esoeffect.), simply put sistas in carvings didn’t see it fit to mak’em.
Come to think of it thongs are a spin off of lingerie, ment to be worn for short spans during sex=white woman sex wear.

    HA! its funny

And sistas have addicted themselves to’em gstring screams skankity skank skank, whats up wit dat (we ain’t skanky we serious people)

matta fact is we even pose to wear draws?

Hmm I wonder what the conscious crowd thinks , when they hear people predicting the future like that of the pyramids, where does their mind go.

Minds are not moving fast enough I’m of the belief that literal thinkin should be faster than light and not that of a reactant like modern science says.

Got people thinkin they are special. When really we are just droplets of measured occurrences built specifically to move and create our own vibrations as we are to her.

But dont worry yall if yall think yall doin it wrong nobodys doin it.

I totally agree with you Carolyn about the upside down vagina; i thought i was the only one thinking that. Everything you said makes total sense and i believe the destruction of the tombs are coming from the euro-tourists as well as the defacing of our temples by our enemies. They are just trying to finish the job their forefathers started; I knew it would come to this day. Before long, we the Orhemahs awakened will be at combat with destroyers-in all forms-only the strong will survive and our true brothas will be there to simmer in the victory we shall have.
